Funding Resources

In 2004, funding for watershed restoration is limited. Federal, state, and local agencies must allocate scarce resources where they will have the most impact. Typically, well-designed projects that have a watershed or regional focus, add to previous successful restoration work, or improve ecological connectivity are considered high priorities for funding.

Listed below are some federal, state and local agencies that provide funding for watershed restoration in 2004. This list is not exhaustive, but it provides information about some of the major sources for watershed restoration.

National Fish and Wildlife Foundation
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Restoration Center
California Coastal Conservancy
California State Water Resources Control Board
California Department of Fish and Game
Community Foundation Sonoma County
