Originator:
The original statewide layer of HYDROPOINTS was developed as a coverage named hydropointa by the Teale Data Center and the California Department of Fish and Game. Rr_hydropoa.shp was created by Circuit Rider Productions, Inc. Rr_hydropoa represents a portion of the hydraopoa coverage that describes the rivers and lakes of the Russian River basin. The point features were selected based on their spatial location within the extent of the Russian River basin. This metadata file incorporates information that is specific to this layer as well as information that is available in the original metadata file for the HYDROPOINTS coverage (hydrogra.txt). Portions of this metadata file that borrow text from hydrogra.txt are indicated in quotation marks.

Description:
Abstract: "The 'HYDROPOINT' layer represents hydrographic point features such as springs and wells and is derived from USGS (U.S.
Geological Survey) DLG-3 (Digital Line Graphs) optional data format. The data was captured from 1 to 100,000 scale
maps. Data was captured by manual digitizing, raster scanning, and editing systems. There are approximately 3200
DLG files making up the statewide area. This layer consists of all wells, springs, cisterns, etc., and is stored in counties and statewide files. The layer is composed of Arc/INFO point features only. "

Purpose:

Users can utilize this layer for the purposes of mapping the flowing waters of the Russian River basin at 1:100,000 as well as an aid to watershed analysis and planning.

Supplemental Information:
"No edits to the original point were made during the data
conversion process.

UPDATES:

April 1999

- Added the following attribute items:
TDCCODE
NAME250
TDCKEY

- Added lookup tables of the hydrographic feataures in the point coverages.

- Added a Statewide coverage

- Added 250K quad boundary point coverages (see coverage hydroindexa for
location reference).
Note: there is no point feature exists on SV and SX quadrants.

Lookup tables are available for each of the 58 county coverages, quad coverages and the statewide Teale coverages. These separate lookup tables carry all the MINOR1 codes and a description for each. Lookup tables are named with an .LUT file name extension (for example: HYDROPOA.LUT)."

"DATA QUALITY ASSESSMENT:

The following are subjective comments regarding this data.

The features of this layer were not changed in any way from
the USGS data. The feature accuracy is fair. The feature and
attribute accuracy is, therefore, to USGS standards."
